This July is Cosmetics For A Cause month and shoppers are being encouraged to stock up on big name cosmetic brands for just $1 as part of the 1 in 5 campaign launched today by Australia’s leading child protection organisation, Bravehearts in partnership with Dollars Cosmetics Club.
The cosmetics campaign aims to promote the education and protection of Australian kids against sexual assault. To help raise awareness and funds, Dollar Cosmetic Club, the social enterprise arm of Beauty Corner, is offering new $1 cosmetic deals every day during the month-long campaign, with every dollar spent being donated to Bravehearts.
Bravehearts Founder and Executive Director Hetty Johnston said with the support of Dollar Cosmetic Club consumers, Bravehearts can inch closer to achieving its goal.
“This is a brilliant way to raise awareness around the issue of child sexual assault and we applaud Dollar Cosmetics Club for helping us to raise much needed funds so that we can better educate, empower and protect Australian children from this abhorrent crime,” Hetty Johnston said.
According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, research shows that 1 in 5 Australian children, or 59,000 kids every year, will be sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday. Bravehearts aims to halve that figure by 2020.
Last year Dollar Cosmetic Club raised $44,735 for the McGrath Foundation. This year, Dollar Cosmetics Club hopes to raise $59,000 for Bravehearts.
