At the New York International Auto Show, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was crowned World Car Design of the Year by the Road to World Car 2022 test drive journey and World Car Finals powered by Brembo.
The IONIQ 5 is a new all-electric compact crossover which features advanced technology, futuristic styling, and a versatile interior. The IONIQ 5 come equipped with an eco-friendly interior with a tech-centric dashboard, reclining front seats with footrests, and generous passenger space, making it a well-rounded package worth considering.
With its innovative infotainment and connectivity features, the IONIQ 5 has a lot to offer. This includes is 12” touchscreen acting as a hub for entertainments. Such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as voice recognition technology. Additionally, the IONIQ 5 offers driver assist technology which allows for the option to drive on the highway and change lanes with little to no driver intervention.
KPMG tabulated the votes based on evaluations of each vehicles by 102 distinguished international automotive journalists. They evaluated each eligible vehicle as part of their professional work.

Each year an international jury test-drives, and votes on, the eligible vehicles for the World Car Awards 2022. World Car TV then record the journey of the jurors during the road-test. Jurors review and comment on the eligible vehicles in six categories of the awards –

The IONIQ 5 won –

The IONIQ 5 has actually beaten the Kia EV6 and the Ford Mustang Mach-E in the main category, and the Audi E-Tron GT and the Mercedes-Benz EQS as the best electric car.
