Boost Mobile has launched an entertainment project featuring zombies doing battle with the stars of Boost. A series of short films set in the zombie apocalypse, created by creative agency The Monkeys, follow several young Australians going about their daily lives whilst living in a zombie outbreak.
According to an announcement from Boost, the four heroes of the short films represent Boost consumers, with each character using their mobile phones to stick together and keep alive. The zombies in the short films are mindless slaves to conformity, and are supposed to represent individuals stuck in a lock-in contract.
Three short videos and a trailer were filmed with the slogan ‘stay living’ to promote the youth-focused telco brand’s $40 unlimited prepaid plans. The trailer already has had over 300,000 views on YouTube.
“The idea of ‘stay living’ is obviously a point of view on the world, but rather than hold a mirror up to reflect reality we wanted to wrap it all up in a story that was entertaining and unconventional. Standing against a world of zombies just made sense,” said Micah Walker, executive creative director at The Monkeys.
The launch of the series also coincided with the cinema launch of Brad Pitt zombie movie World War Z, and has proven to be a well-timed and popular campaign.
